Press Release Courtesy of Speedway Sedans Western Australia.
In their annual return to the Perth Motorplex Street Stocks will again hit the ground running this weekend, with drivers from all over the state hitting the high banks.
The only division in Western Australian Speedway to go in both directions, Street Stocks will again be out in force with 34 nominations for the two-night special.
As last year, the weekend’s events will also double as the final round of the ODH Mechanical Tri-City Series, with $20,000 prize money up for grabs, including a $4,500 winner’s purse.
It is yet another all-star cast in attendance over the two nights, headlined by current series leader Jamie Oldfield and former winners at the Perth Motorplex Hayden Norman and Damon Lyall.
State Champion Jake Hoath from Derby is taking the long trip south for this special event, bringing Matt Lowe and Robert Dunbar in tow.
Currently in the series point standings, Oldfield is in the box seat to win his first series crown with a comfortable advantage over Peter Dowie and Cody Avins.
Avins, who won the Brian Rose Memorial, the state’s biggest Street Stock event at the Allwest Plant Hire Ellenbrook Speedway, will be one driver to watch out for, so to Matt Iwanow.
Iwanow, who, along with his brother Blake, has already run more laps at the Motorplex this year than every driver combined, will be two to watch.
Throw in the likes of current Australia two Ben Norman, former Junior Sedan NT Champion Donny Davis, Jace Kempton, and Daniel Ameduri, and the weekend will be one not to miss.
The weekend’s format will see drivers contest two heat races and an Odd and Evens Preliminary A-Main on Friday night. On Saturday, drivers will have one heat race that will be lined up on points for night one, with the top six in each heat race inverted. Drivers will then see the top 20 in the weekend’s points automatically qualify for the main event, with the following four positions coming through a B-Main before the Main Event for the ODH Mechanical Tri-City Series.
