Official Release Thursday 25th April 2024.
Defending Australian Champion Kyle Sayer has shown he means business, travelling all the way across the country and tonight setting the fastest time in official practice at the B&S Earthworks Mildura Speedway ahead of the Sinopec Lubricants SSA Production Sedan National Title.
Sayer was a man on a mission, coming out onto the track only twice throughout the afternoon, blitzing the opposition in his first run to be well over half a second clear of anyone else. He returned to the track in the sixteenth session and would do much the same, putting himself back on top of the charts with a blistering 16.832 second lap, the only driver who made his way into the sixteen second bracket and well below the current track record of 17.251 seconds.
In fact, the top nine cars would go below that record time, former National Champion Trevor Mills the second fastest with a 17.001, followed by Chris Pagel (17.081), Bryan Galley (17.135) and another former Champion in Joel Berkley rounding out the top five with a 17.157.
The entire sixty-two car field for the Title would participate in practice, with thirty-five sessions held, the top forty-six cars separated by less than one second and the whole field separated by just over two seconds.
Racing begins tomorrow night at the B & S Earthworks Timmis Speedway from 6pm, with drivers contesting three rounds of heat races. Follow along with all the action live on Clay Per View, with live results also being posted on our Facebook page, and live timing available via Race Monitor.
