Matt Pascoe has tonight won the Sedan Competitor of the Year award, at the annual Speedway Australia awards, at the Rydges Hotel in Brisbane.
Pascoe has had a year that most can only dream of, particularly in a highly competitive category like Super Sedans.
Matt won 13 Sedan Feature Races, the most of any senior competitor in Australia within Speedway Sedans Australia, and possibly even across all senior categories. His victories included three rounds of the Super Sedan Summer Slam, which featured drivers from every State in Australia. Matt also won both the prestigious Super Sedan Grand Prix and Super Sedan Grand National in Tasmania, along with winning the NSW and Queensland Super Sedan Titles. Matt also finished second in the National Title, leading for a good portion of the final, losing by a car length in a classic final.
On top of this, Matt is an outstanding ambassador for the sport, always willing to assist with promotion. Matt competed in five states this season, winning Feature races in four of them, and was deprived possibly winning in South Australia by rain.
At start of year we never expected this but we found a sweet spot in the car and kept going back to it. A few changes in the off season and everything we did just worked. Next year we have a new car, thanks to car owner since 2008, without him I would not be here. Going back to what we had in 2013 with torsion bar rear end, park the other one up for the weekend and see what happens. We won the Australian Title in Tassie with it so hopefully we can do it again, Pascoe said.
