Benny Curtin made the long journey down from Geraldton worth it on Sunday as he claimed the Production Sedan feature race at Ellenbrook Speedway.

The Production feature got underway with fifteen of the original twenty cars taking the green after a number of incidents throughout the heats.

It was an all Sigma front row as Benny Curtin and Barry Rose started alongside each other, with Curtin getting the jump while Rick Musarra came from third into second, Rose settling into third.

Two laps were complete before a spate of incidents saw the race come under caution a number of times and with the fading light, the race was reduced to twelve laps from the original fifteen.

Finally the race got underway once again and Jayke Malcolm made his way past Rose for third, albeit only briefly as Rose powered back by to retake third.

Malcolm did not give up though and retook third, with Curtin, Musarra, Malcolm, Rose and fifth placed Travis Castagna all in close proximity over the next few laps.

Rose got back past Malcolm, then all of a sudden cars were three wide, with Rose ending up spun across the track, then hit by Castagna who had nowhere to go. Castagna was unable to restart while Rose was reinstated in third.

This would set up a three lap restart, with Musarra moving up slightly and allowing Rose to move by for second in turn two, then Malcolm also took the opportunity to duck through for third with one lap remaining.

Up front though it was all Curtin, adding the feature win to his earlier two heat wins, leading home Rose and Malcolm while Beau Riley ducked past Musarra in the closing stages for fourth.

Production Sedans are back on the calendar at Ellenbrook Speedway over the WA Day long weekend in June.
