Luke Fraser has tonight claimed Round 4 of the 2023/2024 Stevens Ceilings WA Modified Sedan Series at the Make Smoking History Collie Speedway for the third year in succession.

The night got underway with Luke Fraser scoring the first heat win of the night, defeating a fast finishing Paul Stevens and Branden Fraser. Peter Katona and Sam McAuley would fail to finish the race.

Sam McAuley came out all guns blazing in the second heat to race his way to the front getting the better of Luke Fraser and Lindsay McAuley, the man to beat in the 2023/2024 Stevens Ceilings WA Modified Sedan Series to date.

Another Fraser would score the win in heat three, though this time it was Branden Fraser who would get the better of Shane Brittain and Kevin Ellement, who duelled it out for the minor places with Peter Katona finishing fourth.

The final qualifying heat of the night would see Luke Fraser yet again race away to a commanding victory on a challenging race track, while Peter Katona would have a lonely race in second, finishing ahead of Lindsay McAuley.

With two heat wins and a second place finish, it was Luke Fraser who was at the top of the points after the qualifying heats as we approached the Field Mining Services Group Shootout, where Branden Fraser would face up with brother Luke. For the majority of the shootout, the lower line proved to be the best line, though Branden managed to make the top work and cruised to victory.

As the twenty lap feature race approached, Brent Crookes quickly retired from the event with oil leaking from his Mazda, ending his race early. A field of nine cars would face the green, though it would be short lived as Shane Brittain hit the wall moving through turn 3 and 4.

Once Brittain’s Holden Commodore was lifted from the track and the green lights returned, the race would go without a stoppage with Luke Fraser wasting no time getting to the lead as brother Branden ran wide through turn 3 and 4.

As Luke and Branden Fraser stretched the lead, a battle of 6 was brewing for third, as Kevin Ellement, Lindsay McAuley, Sam McAuley, Paul Stevens, Peter Katona and Peter Fraser jostled in close proximity.

Soon, the father and son rivalry between Lindsay and Sam McAuley was put to the test, as Sam moved to the outside through turn 1 and 2, leaving father Lindsay to battle with Stevens, Katona and Peter Fraser.

Sam McAuley was certainly on a charge as he soon made his way past Kevin Ellement for the final step on the podium, as Ellement started to slow. Luke Fraser would not be headed and would record his third round win in succession at the Make Smoking History Collie Speedway, defeating brother Branden Fraser and Sam McAuley.

The WA Modified Drivers Association would like to thank the Collie Racing Drivers Association for again hosting a round of the 2023/2024 Stevens Ceilings WA Modified Sedan Series in conjunction with their Christmas Cup event and thank Peter and Sharon Fraser from Civil Hirings for again sponsoring this round.
