After a month off, the 2023/2024 Stevens Ceilings WA Modified Sedan Series will return to the Make Smoking History, Collie Speedway this Saturday night for the annual Christmas Cup race meeting.
The event, which doubles as Round 4 of the 2023/2024 Stevens Ceilings WA Modified Sedan Series is proudly supported once again by Peter and Sharon Fraser of Civil Hirings and has attracted the best field of drivers so far this season headlined by Lindsay McAuley, the winner of the two rounds held to date.
For the first time this season, Lindsay McAuley will be joined by son, Sam McAuley, one of our 2022/2023 WA Modified Sedan Series Champions, who will no doubt resume hostilities with sparring partner and fellow reigning WA Modified Sedan Series Champion, Luke Fraser.
Fraser will be a common surname this weekend with Luke joined by brother Branden and father Peter, who makes his return to the WA Modified Sedan Series for the first time since Round 1 last season.
Narrogin’s Paul Stevens managed to secure a podium finish last time out and will hope to continue that form into this weekend, as will Shane Brittain, the only other Modified Sedan driver in the field to claim a feature race this season after his win at the Perth Motorplex earlier this season.
Series regular, Jamie Higgs will also be in the field, though he will be campaigning a different car, after mechanical dramas forced his Holden Commodore to be sidelined after the last round in Narrogin. Thankfully for Jamie, Uncle Brenden (Higgs) has offered his car so Jamie can still be part of the action.
For the first time this season, Adam Houston, Jayke Malcolm and Brent Crookes will take to the track as part of the 2023/2024 Stevens Ceilings WA Modified Sedan Series, with Malcolm completing some testing in Geraldton last weekend to ensure his car is prepared and ready to go. For Crookes, he won’t be hard to miss with his unique Mazda always a fan favourite.
The final drivers in the field for this weekend’s event are Peter Katona, who will make his WA Modified Sedan Series debut and Kevin Ellement, who currently sits in the top five on points in the overall 2023/2024 Stevens Ceilings WA Modified Sedan Series.
Racing will commence at an earlier 5pm start time this Saturday night at the Make Smoking History, Collie Speedway with all drivers completing hot laps and three qualifying heats, before the top six in points take to the Field Mining Services Group Shootout. All drivers will then take to the track for the all-important twenty lap feature race, where we will see if Lindsay McAuley can continue his winning streak.
