ALBANY BOUND FOR WA MODIFIED SEDANS

Press Release by WA Modified Sedans

The 2022/2023 Batchelor Industries WA Modified Sedan Series will fire back into action this Saturday at Albany’s Attwell Park Speedway for the sixth round of the series, proudly supported by locally owned and operated business, Batchelor Industries.

Following the cancellation of Round 5, this will be the first time that WA Modified Sedans have hit the track since the festive season break and will be the perfect time for local drivers to get some all-important track time on the track that will host the 2022/2023 SSA Modified Sedan National Title over Easter.

Hometown heroes Calon Ball, Laurie Dowsett and Merv Penn will head the nomination list, as they will look for a strong showing in front of their home crowd, though they will have a challenge on their hands with current series leader Luke Fraser also in the field.

This weekend will also see a pair of McAuleys in the field with series regular Sam joined by father Lindsay. Both drivers can never be discounted and will no doubt be towards the front of the field in Albany.

Joining the father-son combination will be a nephew and his two uncles in Brendan, Jason and Jamie Higgs. Brendan will make his WA Modified Sedan debut for this season after rebuilding his car in preparation for the upcoming National Title, as will Jason. For their nephew Jamie, this season has been a rollercoaster with a number of consistent outings and most recently a large fire in Collie that significantly damaged his car. This weekend, he will run younger brother Mitch’s Holden Commodore to continue earning series points.

Joining the Higgs trio will be two prominent names in WA Modified Sedan racing, Brendan Selleck and Anthony King. With a state title each to their name, they will be looking to quickly reacquaint themselves with Albany’s Attwell Park surface as they look to add not only a round win in the WA Modified Sedan Series, but also a national title later in the year.

The final nominations for this weekend will be Narrogin’s Paul Stevens, who has overcome engine dramas onboard his Holden Commodore and Esperance’s Wade Rigney, who will debut in the Modified Sedan division in preparation for Easter.

Racing will get under in Albany from 6pm on Saturday evening and will be proudly supported by Jason and Narelle Batchelor from Batchelor Industries. All drivers will compete in three qualifying heats, before the Top 6 Shootout and twenty-lap final.
