The 2020/2021 Blackman Fabrication WA Modified Sedan Series will kick start the New Year, with Round 5 of the series set to take place on Saturday January 2 at Esperance Toyota Speedway, courtesy of Totally Independent Tyre Service and Mechanical.

At such a busy personal time for each of our teams, the West Australian Modified Drivers Association are pleased to release a field of ten quality drivers for the fifth round of the series.

Headlining the event will be Albany based racer, Laurie Dowsett who has finished on the podium in the last two rounds of the series, including a round win at the Make Smoking History, Collie Speedway in mid-December.

Joining Laurie, will be fellow Albany locals, Calon and Miranda Ball and Merv Penn, who will make the five-hour drive to picturesque Esperance to battle it out for the top step of the podium and all important series points.

Despite mechanical dramas forcing his retirement from the opening round of the 2020/2021 Blackman Fabrication WA Modified Sedan Series, Branden Fraser has bounced back by finishing towards the front end of the pack at each of the subsequent rounds. B-Frase will again look to stand on the top step of the podium in Esperance, but will have brother Luke looking to knock him off, having dropped points in Collie after colliding with the concrete wall.

Series regular, Paul Stevens will be refreshed after the holiday period and wanting to return home from the trip to Esperance with the big trophy. Having finished on the podium twice this season already, Stevens will also have strong competition from young gun Sam McAuley, who is thoroughly enjoying getting some quality track time.

The final two nominations for the fifth round of the series are Anthony King, who along with partner Donna are the major sponsors of this round of the series. King has been working overtime to replace the engine on board his FG Ford Falcon, after mechanical dramas again forced him out of the last round of the series. He will also be joined by Esperance local, Josh Stewart, who will strap on the racing rubber to his VF Commodore Production Sedan. Stewart will have the most laps of the tight Esperance Toyota Speedway under his belt and will be hoping to use this home track knowledge when the Blackman Fabrication WA Modified Sedan Series comes to town.

Racing will get underway from 6pm on Saturday January 2nd at the Esperance Toyota Speedway and will include three heat races for every driver, the Southern Stump and Mulching Services Shootout and the all-important feature race.

Again, the WA Modified Drivers Association must thank Anthony and Donna from Totally Independent Tyre Service and Mechanical for their ongoing support of Modified Sedan racing here in Western Australia.
