Rockhampton’s Matt Williams has tonight set the fastest lap time in official practice ahead of this weekend’s 2023 Cush Clothing SSA Super Sedan National Title at the Corbet’s Group Gympie Speedway in Queensland.
The runner up in last year’s title at Latrobe, Williams hit the track five times throughout the evening, but the time he set in his first session, the fourth overall, of 16.226, would stand the test of time.
Defending champion Matt Pascoe was second fastest, his time of 16.341 being set in the sixth session while Hayden Brims was third overall, with his time of 16.356 being set in the fifth session.
A total of thirty two of the thirty six nominated competitors would set times throughout the evening, with the top seven all going under 16.5 seconds, while the top twenty five all recorded sub seventeen second laps, the top twenty eight separated by less than a second overall.
Gates open tomorrow at 3pm, with a special autograph session starting at 3:30pm while racing kicks off in earnest tomorrow with three rounds of heats beginning from 5pm!
