WICKS IS VICTORIA #1 AGAIN!

Two seasons after winning his first SSA Modified Sedan Victorian Title at Premier Speedway, Warrnambool , Brad Wicks has tonight done it again, dominating the thirty-five lap final.

Wicks started on the front row but quickly raced into the lead and would lead every circulation in the feature, defeating Australian Champion Nathan Macdonald and Brody Chrystie, who was on the podium much like the previous Title at Warrnambool.

Brody Chrystie and Brad Warren would start on the front row together of the main event, with both having claimed two heat wins each in earlier racing.

As the race went green the duo were joined by Brad Wicks who used the lowline to perfection, diving underneath both to take the lead.

Wicks was chased hard by Chrystie, with Warren running high and looking to gain some ground back but unable to make anything stick as he was chased hard bu Daniel Wilson and Jarod Waters.

With five complete Wicks and Chrystie had managed to clear away from the rest of the pack, but over the next five laps Wicks began to pull away and Warren began to close the gap back on Chrystie.

The first restart occurred on lap nine as Graham West came to a stop at the bottom of turn three, while Jason Faux also retired infield.

Wicks would lead away Chrystie, Warren, Wilson and Nathan Macdonald who had managed to get past Waters prior to the stoppage. Dylan Barrow found himself in all sorts of trouble as the race resumed and went infield, while back on track Wicks had quickly opened up a gap on Chrystie and Warren, with Macdonald and then Waters both getting past Wilson.

Warren retired infield with fifteen laps complete, and by the halfway point of the race Wicks had made his way into traffic, but it mattered little, over two and a half seconds ahead of Chrystie, who was now under siege from Macdonald, who got past him on lap eighteen for second.

Wicks just got faster and faster, recording the quickest lap of the race on the twenty third circulation, over three and a half seconds ahead of Macdonald while Chrystie was doing all he could to hold off Waters, the lead cars well clear of fifth placed Ty Galley.

With seven to go Wicks was on the tail of the whole field, but he would methodically pick his way through, while further back the battle was now for second, Macdonald under siege from Chrystie and then Waters who managed to get by on lap thirty-one.

Wicks was held up significantly in the dying stages, allowing Macdonald to close the gap to under two and a half seconds, but in the end it was all Wicks defeating Macdonald.

Chrystie came home third after Waters suffered front end damage in the dying stages and limped across the line in fourth place while Ty Galley rounded out the top five finishers.
