Tyrepower Manjimup Speedway kicked off their season over the weekend with three SSA classes on show, and the Street Stocks in particular stole the show in the feature race!
Fletcher Milentis put in one of the best performances of his short career to claim two heat race wins and qualify from pole position in the fifteen-lap final, scheduled to be joined by Matt Hammond but due to his withdrawal, Josh Aspinall would join him.
Milentis claimed the lead as the green flag dropped and began to race away from the field, fellow local driver Shane Whild racing into second while Jason Whild would then get past Aspinall for third.
Lap after lap Milentis would lead the field, Shane Whild doing all he could to close the gap and in the final stages he was within striking distance.
Approaching the white flag Milentis was still leading, with Whild breathing down his neck but unable to make the move. Coming into turn four the final time Milentis went slightly high, Whild dove down low, the duo racing towards the line side by side, with Whild able to just get the nose in front as they greeted the chequers by 0.053 seconds in an incredible finish.
Also on the program Mackenzie Silver raced to a great win in the Junior Sedans ahead of the WA Title being held at the venue in January next year, while Cody Watt claimed the New Stars feature and veteran driver Wayne Leviston claimed the SSA Production Sedan feature.
