Two weeks ago, Tim Weir won one of the most amazing Modified Sedan B Mains, in National Title history. Last night, Weir won his first Queensland Modified Sedan Title, taking the lead just three laps from the finish.
The overwhelming favourite was Aidan Raymont, and the night in many ways belonged to Raymont, winning all four of his qualifying heats, and was well in control of the A Main, with a very handy lead in the first half of the race.
The second half of the race was perpetuated by a multitude of stoppages which kept the opposition close.
When Mark Raymont went to the rear of the field with ten laps remaining, this allowed Weir to move to second place and Tim Atkin to third. A further four stoppages occurred in the final ten laps, with the most significant being the stoppage on lap 37, when Raymont lost the lead, and soon after dropped to fifth place in a dramatic finish.
Weir would defeat Atkin, Dennis Shallcross, Lorensen and Raymont.
