The 55th running of the SSA Super Sedan Western Australian State Title will take place this Saturday Night at the Make Smoking History Collie Speedway located in the Coalfields region two hundred kilometres South East of Perth.
Collie will the host event for the first time since 2007, with the venue a regular stop on the WA Super Sedan Summer Series schedule.Gary “Dusty” Higgs will be chasing his third successive victory in the event that he spent the best part of two decades trying to win for the first time, with the driver of the Marri Park-Tavern Sweet having raced in Collie on many occasions previously.
Third generation pilot Lee Aylett found form at the most recent round of the WA Super Sedan Summer Series in Bunbury and will look to avenge his disappointing finish to last season’s WA State Title where he failed to go the distance after leading for the majority of the race.
Placegetters from last season’s event Busselton’s Kevin Bell & Kyle Larson are in the field along with Rob Knox who finished third in 2020 in Albany and fourth in 2021 in Bunbury.
Broome’s Phil Barton looms as a major chance for victory with the driver of the McCorry Brown Earthmoving Dominator looking for a change of luck in the WA State Title after coming agnoisingly close to a strong result in the past.
Racing gets underway from 5.30pm Saturday Night with SSA Production Sedans, SSA Street Stocks & SSA Junior Sedans also on the program.
