The off season is finally over and the Victorian Super Sedan Association is set to return this weekend with round one of the VSSA Series at Avalon Raceway.
A classy nine car field will be in attendance at the ‘Place for Pace’, with drivers from Victoria and New South Wales looking to get their seasons off to a winning start.
Defending Victorian and Tasmanian Champion Jamie Collins will be in action on his home track. Fresh off a four win season in 2022/23, Collins will look to hit the ground running, and put on a show for his home town fans.
Former two time Victorian Champion Mick Nicola Jnr is in the field, and after a winless 2022/23 season Nicola will be looking to get off to a winning start on Saturday night at Avalon.
New South Welshman Tyson Moon will make the trek to Avalon all the way from Bega in southern NSW. Moon had a top five finish at Toowoomba last month, and will come to Avalon chasing the top step of the podium on Saturday night.
Dave Mackenzie has already tasted feature success this season, when he got a win at Murray Bridge. Mackenzie will be looking to continue his winning form and go two for two to start the season.
Darren Giacometti acquired the former Paul Kranitis Insane Chassis late last season, but only got to have a couple of runs with it. Giacometti will be looking to hit the ground running with his new car on Saturday night at Avalon.
Danny Smith is coming to Avalon also armed with a new to him Insane Chassis purchased from Tasmanian Corey Smith, and will be looking for more seat time to get acquired with his new machine.
Also in the field will be Bendigo veteran Lionel West, young gun Trav Ramsdale, and Geelong local Jason Picone.
Racing will kick off at 5:30pm, with drivers to tackle two heat races to set the field for the feature race.
