The Tyrepower Manjimup Speedway in Western Australia played host to its annual Street Stock Stampede on Sunday 2nd January with a solid field doing battle.
Manjimup Muffler & 4WD Centre were the major sponsors of the event with the Bendotti Avocado Production Sedan Feature the major support class across the night.
The fourteen Street Stock competitors conducted a moments silence prior to race to honour a long time member of the club Ray Skraha who passed away recently.
With two wins and a second in the heats, Peter Walker scored 100 points and the pole position for the final.
Manjimup driver David Fall fell short of the top spot as he finished with a win and two seconds in the heats to total 92 points while Shane Whild also put in some good racing to end up with 81 points.
Other drivers to stand out were Trent Claybrook and Daniel Stanley with each recording a win in the heats.
The feature race over 25 laps was all Peter Walker as he led from the start with Shane Whild in second place.
David Fall held the third spot on the track for the first four laps then faded quickly before retiring with only 6 laps completed.
Daniel Stanley stepped into third position following the withdrawal of Fall.
The race continued at a fast pace to the finish and a well earned victory to Peter Walker.
The Production Sedans also put in some top racing and in the feature it was all Aydan Trewern who led start to finish.
Wayne Leviston started well and held second place before Rickie Nuccini coming from position four on the grid, moved into second place.
Leviston slowed quickly heading up the back straight and was run over by Shane Dubberlin.
Dubberlin was forced to retire with a flat front right tyre while Leviston also went infield.
Nuccini then had the gap between himself and Trewern cut back to zero for the restart.
Trewern was not to be outclassed and quickly re-established his commanding lead.
Another restart in the latter stages of the race gave Nuccini another chance however Trewern was never in danger winning the race by a comfortable margin.
Mitchell Killeen, Mark McDonald and Matthew Jones had a tight battle for the miners but an incident on the back straight resulted in Jones entering the car park on the infield.
Killeen beat McDonald to the line to fill the third position on the podium.
The Tyrepower Manjimup Speedway is back in action on Saturday 5th February 2022 when they play host to the fifth round of the 2021/2022 KCM Transport WA Modified Sedan Series.
