Ellenbrook Speedway is set to come alive this weekend for one of the most anticipated Junior Sedan events on the Western Australian calendar, with the Tom Green Memorial Gold Cup bringing together the state’s best young drivers for a huge day of SSA Junior Sedan action.
A massive field of 51 Junior Sedans has been nominated across the Top Star and New Star sections, with competitors chasing Gold Cup glory and the chance to etch their name alongside some of the biggest names in WA Junior Sedan history.
The Top Star division features a quality 25-car field, with last year’s Gold Cup winner Harrison Beres absent from this year’s nominations having aged out, opening the door for a new champion to emerge.
Last year’s runner-up Jamie Comley will be one of the favourites heading into the event, looking to go one better after finishing second in 2025. Comley has already enjoyed success at Ellenbrook Speedway this season, claiming two Top Star feature victories at the venue, and will be aiming to add another major trophy to his collection.
Standing in his way will be 2025 New Star Gold Cup winner Jake Huntjens, who has made the move into the Top Star ranks and is already showing he belongs among the best in the division. Huntjens will be hoping to become the latest driver to join an elite list of competitors who have won the Gold Cup in both divisions, including David Harwood, Brooke Oldfield, Bradley Oldfield, Blake Iwanow and Beau Oldfield.
Huntjens has also already tasted feature success at Ellenbrook this season, while last-start winner Mason Whitehead will arrive full of confidence after taking victory at the venue last time out.
The field also includes a host of talented contenders capable of fighting for victory, including former Australia #3 Jesse Hamon, the well travelled Charlie Scott and Mackenzie Silver.
The New Star division will feature an equally impressive 26-car field, with a host of young drivers eager to claim one of Junior Sedan racing’s biggest prizes.
Blake Noakes returns to the Gold Cup after finishing third last year and will be determined to move up the podium and secure victory in 2026. Noakes will be joined by a strong group of challengers, including Jack Foster, Sebastian Dimasi and Cohen Brittain, who will all enter the event with winning ambitions.
Brittain arrives as the most recent feature winner at Ellenbrook, while Foster, Noakes and Dimasi have all shown the pace required to challenge at the front.
The New Star field also includes names such as Ivy Bearsby, Ryker Coyle (coming back from a big roll at the last show and the hugely improved Liv Higgs, who could all trouble the podium.
The Tom Green Memorial Gold Cup will be supported by strong fields of SSA Street Stocks and SSA Production Sedans, ensuring a packed program of racing action for fans at Ellenbrook Speedway.
