The 2025/26 SSA Title season reaches its final destination this weekend as the SSA Street Stock Queensland Title heads to Maryborough Speedway for what promises to be a fitting finale to the season’s Title calendar. Not only is this the final Queensland Title of the season, but it also marks the final SSA Title event to be contested anywhere in Australia for the 2025/26 campaign.
Now in its twelfth running, the Queensland Title has attracted a quality field packed with interstate stars, former champions and in-form locals all chasing one of the most coveted crowns in SSA Street Stock competition.
Leading the charge is defending champion Matt Nelson from Victoria, who arrives full of confidence after claiming the SSA Street Stock NSW Title last month. The three-time Queensland Champion once again shapes as the driver to beat after defeating fellow Victorians Nathan Barbeler and Morris Ahearn in that event. Both rivals are back this weekend and looking to turn the tables, with Barbeler especially hungry for success after standing on the podium three times previously in this event without yet securing the breakthrough victory.
Queensland’s best will certainly have plenty to say about that though. Last season’s podium finishers James Russell and Toby Maloney both return after strong campaigns, with Russell in particular carrying momentum following a recent feature race win at Rockhampton.
Victorian charger Shane Roycroft also enters the weekend as a major contender after narrowly missing victory in last weekend’s Cannonball Run at Maryborough. Fellow podium finisher Beau Pieters is another expected to feature prominently after showing excellent speed at the venue.
Former Queensland Title winner Travis Hutchison is chasing a second crown, while experienced campaigner Darren Ciesiolka will be hoping to finally go a spot or two better after twice finishing on the podium in the event.
Other drivers to watch include Brandon Stoward, fresh off a feature race victory at Gympie last weekend, and New South Wales visitor Jaiden Santin, who already owns feature wins at both Gympie and Maryborough this season.
With a stacked field, interstate rivalries and one final SSA Title to decide for the season, all signs point towards a spectacular weekend of Street Stock action at Maryborough Speedway!
