Press Release by Speedway Sedans Victoria
31 of the fastest and fiercest Modified Sedan pilots will converge on the freshly revamped Southern 500 Speedway Portland for the SSA Modified Sedan Victorian Title for 2021/22 this Saturday night February 12.
As times change and the sport progresses its really exciting to see such a diverse car and manufacturer type entered into this event.
The mighty Ford Falcon still leads the way with 18 drivers taking to the wheel of the blue oval cars for their best chance at taking home the #1 plate.
A total of 9 Holden Commodores are locked in, alongside a Toyota Lexcen, West’s Holden Torana and then the all new Mitsubishi Magna and Mercedes Benz C350.
The current Victorian Champion, Jake Drewett who won at the wheel of his MDA18 will not return to defend his title so this year will see a new Victorian Champion crowned.
Brock Atkins and the Atkins Family Racing team currently lead the VMPA season standings and will enter the P0 FGX Falcon as one of the hot favourites to take out this race.
Atkins recently won the famed Kings Royal at Kingaroy and now has V1 on his mind.
Todd Atkins has shown he has what it takes to stand atop the podium after a huge 2 years since joining the Modified Sedan ranks in his new look HA36 BA Falcon.
As you could expect, the reining VMPA champion and Australian National Modified Sedan Champion Kye Walters enters as another hot contender to add another #1 plate to the Walters Racing shed driving his AU Falcon.
Mark Deckert has shaken up the Modified Sedan world after his bold new Mitsubishi Magna Modified finally became a reality.
The Horsham local debuted the car at home and quickly found its feet with the front wheel drive setup turning heads all night.
Without Jake, Mildura still has its fair share of drivers representing the Murray.
Among them, Jake’s sister Taleah Dolic driving her MDA 33 FGX Falcon, Wade McCarthy in the MDA6 Falcon, Trevor Logan in the MDA23 ED Falcon, Ty Galley in the MDA0 Toyota Lexcen and finally Jarod Waters in the game-changing MDA92 Mercedez Benz C350.
The Tasmanian based Jetsons are another pair that could really turn the mainlanders to the wind. Jakobe and Corey Jetson have built two of the fastest and prettiest Modified Sedans to come out of the apple isle, and now they too set their sights on that Victoria #1 plate.
Matt Nelson was recently crowned as a multiple Queensland Champion in the street stock category, Nelson will now fit up the race rubber and hop into the helm of the AX61 Modified Sedan in an attempt to add V1 to his cabinet.
Daniel Simpson already knows what it’s like to hold the Victorian Champion mantle, and in 2022 the driver of the HO33 will dial the commodore back in and go to work at holding that step once again.
Along with a whole host of other men and women drivers who all are capable of turning this event on their head and knocking off some of the favourites.
A season’s work all comes down to this Saturday night February 12 from Southern 500 speedway Portland for the SSA Modified Sedan Victorian Title presented by Heywood Hydraulic Services and Speedway Sedans Victoria.
