The Bendigo Metal Fabrications Speedway Sedans Australia National Modified Sedan Title begins this Friday 12th March 2022 at the Heartland Raceway in Moama in New South Wales.
In what will be the 46th running of the event, the Heartland Raceway which opened in 2005 will host the event for the first time in the venue’s history with the racetrack located only a short distance away from the Victorian/New South Wales border.
National Champion Kye Walters from Torquay in Victoria will finally get to defend the title he won at the Kingaroy Speedway way back in April 2019 some 1079 days ago, with the driver of the True Design Homes Ford Falcon also becoming the Tasmanian & Victorian Champion in recent times.
The field of sixty eight competitors hails from five different mainland states, with Victoria boasting fifty entries in what is a great sign for the class in the Garden State.
Fourteen competitors from Queensland, two from New South Wales & Western Australia a piece along with Robert Uren from South Australia make up the rest of the field.
Former National Champions Mark Carlin (Carrick 2015, Albany 2014 & 2009), Aidan Raymont (Toowoomba 2013), David Smith (Mildura 2012), Max Clarke (Lismore 2011) & Ash Parkinson (Albany 2000) are all entered along with the current Queensland Champion Mick Shelford & South Australian Champion Jake Drewett.
Kings Royal Champion Brock Atkins is joined by brother Todd in the beautifully presented two car team from Hamilton with the pairing looming as strong chances along with fellow Ford Falcon pilots including Darran Lester, former National Production Sedan Champion Tim Atkin & Matt Nelson who will contest the first of three National Titles he has planned for this season.
Friday’s activities will begin with scrutineering ahead of official practice from 3-5pm before concluding with the welcome function.
Racing Saturday & Sunday evenings will begin at 5pm local time with every lap of racing to be stream live & free courtesy of the team from Speedway Sedans Live powered by Pro1 Race Parts.
