On the weekend Tennant Creek held their opening night, with their new wall, and track surface.

The venue has taken on a huge transformation and is a tribute to the hard-working members of Tennant Creek Speedway.

In attendance was the President of Motor Sports NT – Gary Pendlebury, Arunga Park Speedway President – Bob Baldock, Katherine Speedway President – Rebecca Thomsen, and four members of the Speedway Sedans Northern Territory Committee.

Officials came and helped from Darwin, Katherine and Alice Springs which shows the spirit of racing in the NT. With limited racing at the moment to see all clubs support each other is testament to the speedway community.

Several of our Street Stock drivers have transferred from Junior Sedans, with Shane Greening and Lachlan Spilsbury having their first race meeting in the senior ranks, joining Jack Yates who made the transition last year.

The hard work done to meet the covid requirements and ensure both competitors and spectators complied was great work.

Fifteen cars competed over two nights with five heats and a feature, the feature was 20 laps with ten each way for Street Stocks. Racing was hard and fast with Justin Brumfield taking out Three of his five heats and Jamie Yates and Rod berry taking out two each and one to Scott Bradbury, Shaun Jones, and Megan Henderson.

Six Top Star Junior Sedan drivers competed putting on an excellent show. Michael and Jamie Jones from Tennant Creek, Jet Thompson, Logan Foley, Bailey Gilby and Allysha Tregea from Arunga Park

The winner of the Junior Sedans Feature Michael Jones was outstanding all night winning all the heats and unfortunately hit the wall after receiving the chequered flag in the feature, He is okay. His brother Jamie came in second with Logan Foley from Arunga Park Speedway taking third place.

Justin Brumfield continued his dominance of SSA Street Stock racing in the Northern Territory by claiming the victory from Scott Bradbury and Jayden Giezandanner.
