Western Speedway, Hamilton will come alive this weekend as it hosts the SSA Super Sedan Victorian Title. Competitors from New South Wales, South Australia, and Victoria have submitted robust nominations for this event, led by Tyson Moon from Bega NSW, who currently holds the Victorian VSSA Series points lead. Tyson has achieved remarkable success this season, securing victories in all three rounds of the Victorian Super Sedan Series held recently in Wahgunyah, Avalon, and Moama, and appears poised to continue his strong performance.

Jamie Collins has consistently placed well in the Victorian Series thus far and aims to secure his second Victorian State Title this weekend. Brock Atkins, driving the second of the Moons Earthworks cars, has recorded a third fourth and fifth place finishes in previous rounds, and is eager to capture his first victory of the season at Hamilton.

Mick Nicola Jnr gained momentum late in the Avalon round and will seek to maintain that form as he strives for another victory at the Western Speedway venue, aiming to add another Victorian Title to his accolades. Lucas Roberts, known as the ‘Moama Mauler,’ will return after missing the Avalon event due to injury. A five-time Victorian Title winner, Roberts will be aiming for victory on Saturday night.

Ash Bergmeier has also shown solid performance, having finished second in the Victorian Title in 2019 and looking to convert that form into a win this weekend. South Australian driver Dave Gartner, despite recently starting his racing season, is determined to achieve a strong start with hopes of winning at Hamilton.

Additionally, former Hamilton local Todd Atkins, now residing in Queensland, will pilot his brother Brock’s car, having recently secured a heat win in Moama in convincing style. Lionel West, a current Australian land speed record holder also demonstrated impressive form at Moama with a second-place finish in the A Main and will aim to build on that success.

Dave Mackenzie is navigating the aftermath of significant damage sustained during Moama and is focused on redeeming his standings with a commendable performance this weekend. Mick Nicola will be competing in Victoria for the first time this season, having vehicles based in both Queensland and Victoria, and as a former Australian Champion, he should be a strong contender along with several other capable drivers.

After experiencing substantial damage at Avalon, Ricky Ashmore from Ballarat is working diligently to prepare his car for this weekend’s competition. Danny Amato from Bacchus Marsh, a returning driver long involved with Super Sedans, appears to have reintegrated into the sport seamlessly despite his absence.

Other South Australian participants include Paul Blenkiron from Murray Bridge in a new vehicle, alongside Kym Leyson from Salisbury and Chris Ferguson from Meadow. With the Australian Title scheduled to take place in Murray Bridge this season, these drivers will be looking to sharpen their skills at this event in preparation for the larger competition in March.

The race format includes three rounds of heats followed by a thirty-five lap main event. Racing is set to commence at 5:00 PM at Western Speedway, Hamilton.
