Official Release Courtesy of Speedway Sedans Western Australia.
It has been 13 years since the Speedway Sedan Australia’s biggest division by numbers has had a major event in the Midwest of Western Australia. Still, Street Stocks will return to the Geraldton City Speedway this weekend for round two of the Odh Mechanical Tri-City Series.
In a nomination list that looks more like a who’s who of Street Stock racing in the State, the division’s return could be one for the memory bank.
Current series leader Matthew Iwanow is sadly absent from this weekend’s list due to being on holiday. Still, it leaves the door open for plenty of other drivers to put themselves in the box seat for the $4,500 overall points win.
The one who is in the prime position is Jamie Oldfield. After losing last year’s Overall Championship in the final race, he is looking to be on the upper hand this time. Oldfield was also in attendance last time Street Stocks had a major event at the track, along with Hayden Norman.
At the time, Norman was just out of his Junior Sedan career; this time around, with a State Title now to his name, he is gearing up to head back to his old stomping grounds.
The only local in the field, Peter Dowie, will love the fact for the first time, he will be able to defend home turf, and after a strong run at the opening round, Dowie could be a dark horse to watch out for.
Speaking of a dark horse, Collie’s Cody Avins will continue to be a driver who could upset the apple cart again. The opening-round winner is sitting pretty and is back for another chance at going back-to-back.
Adding to that list, State Champion Jake Hoath, Carnarvon combo Jace Kempton and Damon Lyall, Matt Hammond, who is a purple patch of form down south, Australia 2 Ben Norman, Blake Iwanow and the Dellar brothers, Kayne and Lachie are all just a tiny piece of drivers who have a shot at taking out the second round.
The action begins at 6 pm, and if you can’t make it, you can catch all the action on Clay-Per-View.
