The SSA Junior Sedans, with drivers of the South Australian and Victorian variant, headed to Renmark’s Riverland speedway last Saturday night, December 12th.
Drivers included Kirra-Lee Pitcher, Riley Greig, Corey and Max Richter, Matthew Richter, Nate Trewin, Callum Crossing, Drew Flatman, Tyler Whitbourne, Ayden Powell, Lincoln King and Carter Metcalfe.
Heat one saw Drew Flatman start from the midfield and work to the front and eventually get the heat win. Nate Trewin was second and Carter Metcalfe and Callum Crossing after battling throughout finished third and fourth.
Heat two saw Carter Metcalfe go better and get the win, Nate Trewin finished second once again with Callum Crossing third.
The feature event was a fifth-teen lap journey. Great racing was had throughout by usual suspects Trewin, Flatman, Metcalfe, Crossing and Pitcher. But come to lap thirteen and things became controversial as Drew Flatman went to put a car a lap down, contact occurred and saw the previous race leader get put to the rear of the field before the “green-white-checker” restart.
The restart saw Carter Metcalfe in the MDA10 Hyundai Excel continue to take the feature win, Nate Trewin made it three second place finishes for the night, Callum Crossing came home in third, Ayden Powell had one of his best events away from Murray Bridge finishing fourth and Drew Flatman managed to round out the top five.
The SSA Junior Sedans next see a South Australian race track on December 26th at the Murray Machining and Sheds Speedway, Murray Bridge.
