In front of one of the biggest sedan fields at Margret River in many years, the third round of the Ivix industries had its fair share of surprises.
One man though bucked the trend, that was Kyle Sayer.
Sayer kept the status quo by winning his third feature race in the series this season being able to defeat Rickie Nuccini and teammate Tom Wilde.
Sayer led start to finish in the A-Main, which saw some controversy in the opening half of the event. While running third and fourth, Jamie Higgs and Jason Batchelor made contact seeing Higgs spin around and bring out the yellows.
Higgs was unable to restart while Batchelor, who was racing Michael Clark’s FG Ford Falcon for the night was sent to the tail.
This left the door open for Rickie Nuccini to swoop and take third, and ultimately the runner up position as Nathan Carter who was running second at the time slipped back the field to finish home in sixth behind Damon Gherardi and the recovering Batchelor.
David Fall had his best attempt and closing the gap hard on Michael Hamon in the Street Stocks, but that fell by they way side on the second to last lap, with Damien Amato storming by to take the win in the A-Main
It has been quite some time since Amato has tasted victory, but the win come with some hard work with it as he chased Fall during the concluding stages of the event.
Pole sitter Shane Whild had a race that he would like to forget, after being passed by Fall for the lead in the early stages of the race, he would spin in pits bend, being hit by then third placed driver Clint Hadley and seeing both their nights end on the infield.
Daniel Stanely would lead home Michael Hamon for the final spot on the podium, with Hamon lucky to make the distance after contact early in the A-Main seeing his right rear tyre rubbing against the panel work.
While small in size, the Top Star Junior Sedans put on some amazing racing with first time starter in Margret River Harrison Beres upsetting series regulars Alyvia Ferraro and Makayla Hinsey for the victory.
The Ivix Industries South West Sedan Championship Grand Final will be contested at the Make Smoking History Bunbury Speedway on April 10.
