Barry Rose last night claimed the Production Sedan feature at Bunbury Speedway after taking his chances when they appeared before racing away from the rest of the field.
Nine cars from the original fifteen drivers who started the night would start the feature, with Kane McDiarmid getting the early jump. Rose and Graeme Rafferty fought hard behind him for second, while Wayne Leviston quickly made his way forward into fourth.
Rafferty would work the inside, Rose the outside and the duo stayed side by side as they raced their way around the track until finally Rose was able to power the little Sigma right around the outside and into a clear second place.
Rose then set his sights on the leader McDiarmid, quickly closing the gap as behind them Rafferty went slightly wide, allowing Leviston to sneak through underneath and grab third.
It didnt take long until Rose would really make his presence felt, sitting just on the inside of McDiarmid for a number of laps until finally a tiny gap opened up and Rose pounced, taking his opportunity and moving underneath McDiarmid to take over the point.
As the laps wound down the field became more and more strung out, Rose extending his lead over McDiarmid and Leviston on his way to victory in what would be a nonstop feature race.
Rose would go on to take the win, the first round of the Production Sedan South West Series, defeating McDiarmid and Leviston, with veteran racer Paul Bennett coming home fourth.
Inaugural series champion Kyle Sayer had an up and down night, recording good results in his opening two heats then doing a rack in his third. He borrowed Barry Rewells car for the Pole Shuffle but was then unable to start the feature after issues with the gear box.
Heat wins were shared by Rafferty (2), Rose (2), Leviston and Sayer.
The second round of the South West Series for Production Sedans will be held next weekend at QUIT Collie Speedway with a good field predicted, particularly as the venue will hold the WA Production Sedan Title later in the season.
