In what will be a record-breaking event in more ways than one, the Patience Sandland 2026 SSA Modified Sedan WA Title begins tomorrow night at the Geraldton City Speedway.
Thirty-one cars have nominated for the 46th running of the SSA Modified Sedan WA Title, the biggest field since the 2014 WA Title at Ellenbrook Speedway, which attracted 13 interstate drivers.
Geraldton will also host the event for the first time in its history, marking the first time we have been to a new venue for the SSA Modified Sedan WA State Title since Mount Barker in 2017.
The field was boosted earlier in the week by defending Champion Clint Noakes, who will look to join Ben Ellement as a three-time SSA Modified Sedan WA Champion.
None more qualified than Luke Fraser, who has been on the podium in the last two running of the event, also finishing second on two occasions (2021 and 2024).
So too Sam McAuley, who started on the front row and finished runner-up last year and also in 2023 in Esperance.
Two former winners are in the field, with Jayke Malcom (2021) and Shane Brittain (2007) both making the trip to the Midwest venue.
Speaking of Geraldton, the host club will be well represented with nine drivers in attendance, helping boost the field to one of the most hotly contested SSA Modified Sedan WA Titles in quite some time.
Longevity in the class is also on display as runner up in 2005 Lindsay McAuley is entered along with Ray Clifton who was runner up way back in 2003.
Excitement is brewing for the Geraldton City Speedway Club, as it is also set to host its first Speedway Sedans WA Title since 2011, when Casey Paech won in front of his home crowd in the SSA Production Sedan WA Title.
Action begins tomorrow with Official Practice and the Welcome Function, followed by racing on Saturday 14th of February.
