The National Street Stock Title is just two weeks away, with more than 120 drivers set to converge on Adelaide Motorsports Park, for the second largest National Title of all time.

One of those drivers set to make the trek to Adelaide is Scott Purdie from Melton in Victoria.

Twenty five year old Purdie, started racing at the age of seven in Go-Karts, before making the transfer to Speedway at the age of 18, moving to Street Stock at the age of 20.

Purdie will be contesting his second National Title after contesting the largest National Title at Redline Raceway in 2016, his home track.

Purdie was lucky enough to make the C Main in 2016, starting off the front row, and was challenging for the lead on the final lap in a desperate finish when coming into contact with the other car. The Stewards deemed Purdie the reason for the incident and got sent rear, effectively ending his Title.

Scott Purdie is very much looking forward to the title, and will be treating the event as a learning experience. Hopefully a few heat race wins and improve on my last Australian title efforts, Purdie said.
I have never raced at Adelaide before but I am looking forward to it, he added.

Purdie has not had the best of seasons, with rain ruining track time in the lead up to the National Title, but he is looking to dial the car in at Redline Raceway on Saturday, 10 February 2018, a week prior to the title.

Purdie will leave Melton the day before Scrutineering, heading across the border to arrive in Adelaide on Wednesday night.

We are planning on leaving 4.30 am Wednesday morning and it will take us about 8-9 hours to get there. Coming along with me is my wife Debbie, daughter Lucy, son Lincoln and pit crew Vaughan in the pilot seat on the way up. I am sure there will be a few stops for the kids but we will be taking the DVD players up to keep the little ones entertained, Purdie added.

Mick Dann, Anthony Beare and Brad McClure are three drivers Purdie believes will be hardest to beat.

Purdie will be driving an immaculate VY Holden Commodore, in what will be his third season in the car.

Purdie finished by saying, I would like to thanks my parents for all the time and money they have spent to get me out doing what I love to do, my wife and kids also for allowing me to go away Racing, Bizz at Elite Fleet Maintenance for getting me to the title, the in laws for their help and support along the way, Darren at METOWU Mechanical for all his help and support over the years and Vaughan for towing he car over to Adelaide for me. Thanks heaps, I would not be competing at the title of it was not for you guys and girls.
