ASCOE WINS QUEENSLAND TITLE!
The SSA Super Sedan Queensland Title was held at McCosker Rocky Speedway over the weekend and when all was said and done, it was Brad Pascoe standing victorious!
Pascoe would qualify on the front row for the thirty-lap feature race, starting alongside pole sitter Matt Williams and when the green flag flew it was Williams who grabbed the lead, Pascoe following behind while Michael Hally moved into third.
Williams hugged the pole line while Pascoe was man-handling the car up high, the duo locked together and beginning to pull away from the rest of the field.
With five complete Pascoe pulled alongside Williams on the outside and did enough to take the lead on lap six, putting the right rear on the highline and then pulling away from Williams.
As Mick Nicola Snr and Zac Pascoe waged war for fourth the yellows would come on for a stranded Darren Saunders, twenty-one laps remaining and setting up a double file restart.
Williams tried to go with Pascoe on the restart but was unable to hold momentum, Pascoe keeping out in front as the battle waged for third between the four cars of Hally, Nicola, Zac Pascoe and Harry Doyle.
With eighteen complete Williams got the nose back inside Pascoe but again Pascoe held strong, holding off the challenge, a battle that was replayed over the next few laps until Williams had a lose and half spun to the infield, giving Pascoe a huge lead and seeing Hally able to get past Williams for second.
Now under pressure from Doyle, Williams would eventually slow and head infield, the order with ten remaining Pascoe, Hally, Doyle, Pascoe and Nicola.
With five to go Brad Pascoe had a half lap advantage on the rest of the field, Hally now coming under pressure from Doyle as lapped traffic came into play. Hally went high to get around the lapped car and Doyle snuck through on the inside and grabbed second, the order remaining unchanged in the run to the flag.
