Press Release by Morgan Melvin
Derby’s Jake Hoath and Newman’s Lenny Bates will go into night two of the Karratha Machinery Hire Brett Johnson Memorial at Nickol Bay Speedway as the joint points leaders after both drivers took home two wins and a second from their three heat races tonight.
But it was all former WA Champion Jamie Oldfield who took the win in the Col Johnson Perpetual for the top-16 point scores.
Oldfield, who started out of position three with two wins and a third place, found the high groove to his liking on a very fast Friday night track. Getting past the front row starters before the midway point.
Hoath and Bates had a great battle for the runner-up position and was joined by last years winner Jace Kempton who found himself settling into third place, getting past Hoath.
Kempton and Bates continued this until the very end, with Bates getting the better of Kempton on the last corner.
Street Stocks will have one more round of heats tonight before the all-important features.
