.Sunny late winter conditions greeted competitors and spectators at the daytime venue which has had much of its 2022 racing season curtailed by inclement weather.

Over Sixty Junior Sedans were attendance for one of the major Junior Sedan events in the West, with twenty four drivers contesting the Top Star finale.

Beau Oldfield shared the front row with 2021 WA Champion Jhy Pack as the opening few laps produced great racing right through the field.

Newman’s Donny Davis was soon into second place with Pack, Jaxon Buszan and Zach Munro rounding out the top five in the early stages.

Karratha’s Tyde Lovell would unfortunately roll his Mitsubishi Lancer in turn two on lap thirteen ending his race after a consistent afternoon.Lovell was unhurt in the incident as Bunbury’s Matthew Thomson then rolled his Ivix Industries Hyundai Excel just one lap later after the restart.

Thankfully Thomson was also unhurt as Oldfield continued to lead pull away after each stoppage.

Davis would run wide on lap sixteen falling back to fourth in the concluding stages as Pack and Munro scrapped for second place before Travis Strelley brought the yellow lights on after loosing the right front wheel on his Mitsubishi Lancer.

A thrilling finish was set to occur as Pack took the opportunity to challenge Oldfield for the race lead with the state champion equal to any move from the Bunbury based competitor.

Oldfield would claim his first victory in his home club’s major event in Top Stars from Pack, Munro, Davis and Kalgoorlie’s Tyler Scott the top five.

Kaden Harrison achieved the biggest win of his racing career in the New Star twenty lap A Main when he crossed the line ahead of Mitch Binning & Manjimup’s Colby Bosley.
