Official Release Saturday 27th April 2024
Jamie Oldfield has tonight created his own slice of Western Australian Sedan Racing history by becoming the first driver to win five SSA Street Stock WA State Titles after his victory at the Moora Speedway.
Despite being challenged throughout the forty lap main event on multiple occasions by Newman’s Donny Davis & Kalgoorlie’s Kayne Dellar, Oldfield was able to withstand the pressure and drive away to a fifth victory.
Davis would finish a gallant runner up from Dellar with two time National Champion Mick Hamon finishing fourth after performing a engine change prior to the finale.
Fifty Nine Street Stocks were on hand for the second night of the 37th running of the SSA Street Stock WA State Title presented by Iluka Resources with the final round of heats providing great entertainment prior to the two B Mains.
Blake Iwanow and Manjimup’s Shane Whild taking out the two B Mains with Chas Skipworth, Jake Williams, Linton Dickerson & 2022 WA Champion Damon Lyall all qualifying through into the main event.
The front row would be shared by Oldfield & Davis for the 40 lap finale with a great Saturday Night crowd on hand for the event.
Shay Roberts brought the yellow lights on after one lap when he spun coming into the main straight.
Oldfield lead the field away after the restart from Davis and Dellar with the Kalgoorlie Kid moving into second place by lap four.
Damon Lyall’s race was over on lap five as he limped his Ford Falcon to the infield as the battle up front intensified.
The two time National Street Stock Champion Jamie Oldfield felt the pressure firstly from Dellar then from Davis as Carnarvon’s Jace Kempton moved into fourth place by lap seven.
Kempton would take third from Davis as the top four pulled clear of the rest of the field.
The next nearly thirty laps were a great exhibition of Street Stock racing as Oldfield, Davis, Dellar and Kempton swapped positions at the front of the field.
Davis fought back on both Dellar and Kempton and to take back second then would hit the front on lap sixteen with the seventeen year old sensation having a career weekend in Moora.
The next five laps saw Davis holding off Oldfield as the Street Stocks delivered a class final in Moora.
Oldfield pulled away from Davis as the race moved into its second portion with Dellar holding off Kempton for third.
The second stoppage of the race occurred on lap thirty two as Ben Norman stopped in turn three with a flat tyre leading to a run to the flag for Oldfield.
Eight laps stood between Oldfield and a record fifth victory as Davis, Dellar, Kempton and 2018 WA Champion held the top five positions.
Norman tried everything to wrestle fourth place away from Kempton as Oldfield moved clear of the field.
It would be a fifth title victory for Oldfield, a record for Street Stocks in the West with teen sensations Donny Davis & Kayne Dellar second and third respectively.
Mick Hamon stole fourth on the final lap from Hayden Norman, with B Main one winner Blake Iwanow officially sixth at the end of the forty laps from Avins and Kempton who limped home to be eighth.
Jamie Oldfield thanked his long time car owners Luke & Rose Novel in victory lane along with his loyal crew as he soaked up winning a State Title at a venue that formed apart of his early years in the sport.
The Moora Speedway provided a great venue for the 2024 SSA Street Stock WA State Title with the three day event a fabulous weekend.
