Western Australian Street Stock racing’s very popular “Month of Madness” has undergone a name change for 2023.
In 2023 the series will be known as the ODH Mechanocal North/South Shootout and will encompass both the National Title at the Bunbury and the WA State Title in Port Hedland in June.
The weekend following the National Title at Bunbury, the ODH Mechanical North/South Shootout hits the Make Smoking History Collie Speedway and the Tyrepower Manjimup Speedway.
Following the events in March, the series will pause until late June when the 2023 SSA Street Stock Western Australian State Title is held at the Port Hedland Speedway with the final round the following weekend at the Nickol Bay Speedway in conjunction with the Brett Johnson Memorial which will again offer a $10,000 prize pool.
With the same concept of years gone by, series money will be paid out to drivers who do all five rounds of racing.The ‘Coalminer 51’ at the Make Smoking History Collie Speedway on Friday, March 10, will again run to the USA style format with Hot Laps, Qualifying, Heat Races and a 51-Lap Feature Race with a fuel stop.
The Collie Racing Drivers Association is again fundraising for this round as they look to surpass the $15,000 prize pool they achieved for last year’s event.
The next day, the series moves to timber town and the Tyrepower Manjimup Speedway for round three of the North/South Shootout for their first-ever round.
The 2023 Odh Mechanical North/South Shootout Series Schedule
Round One- Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th 2023, Bunbury Speedway (2023 SSA Inc National Street Stock Title).
Round Two- Friday 10th March 2023, Collie Speedway (Coalminer 51).
Round Three- Saturday 11th March 2023, Tyrepower Manjimup Speedway.
Round Four- Saturday 24th & Sunday 25th June 2023, Port Hedland Speedway (2023 SSA Street Stock WA State Title.
Round Five- Friday 30th June & Saturday 1st July 2023, Nickol Bay Speedway (2023 Brett Johnson Memorial).
