Clint Noakes has today grabbed his own slice of history, not only winning the Far Western Championships for Modified Sedans at Shark Bay Speedway, but also becoming just the second driver in history to claim the win in more than one senior division at the event.
Noakes was all class throughout the day, recording two heat wins out of a possible three to start on the front row of the twenty lap featuyre alongside brother Matt Noakes.
Clint got the jump on Matt as the race went green, with Anthony King moving into third and from here it was all Clint as he raced away to lead every circulation.
Behind him, Anthony King was putting the pressure on Matt Noakes for second, moving underneath him, with Matt just able to pull away. Behind them again a whole host of other cars were fighting it out, ending with Blake Jackson being spat out the back and being left with some work to do.
Rick Musarra was running in fifth spot in his first go as a Modified Sedan, able to apply the blowtorch to Mick Reynolds and then eventually grab fourth.
Musarra would then set about closing the gap on King for third, lap after lap drawing closer. Despite catching King and hounding for the latter half of the race, Musarra just couldnt find a way through. This left Clint Noakes to cross the line in first place, defeating Matt Noakes and Anthony King.
Courtesy of his win, Noakes joins Fish Telenta as the only two drivers to have both won in two Senior Divisions at the Shark Bay Far Western Championships.
The event also doubled as the opening round of the Modified Sedan Winter Series, with the second round slated to be contested at the Kellerberring Speedway on the 29th of July.
