Matt Noakes from Western Australia, will be one of the fifty eight drivers to take part in the Speedway Sedans Australia, Octane Alley, National Modified Sedan Title, on Saturday, 31 March 2018 and Sunday, 1 April 2018, at Horshams Blue Ribbon Raceway.
Noakes, who lives in Narrogin, in the States Great Southern has been competing for nearly twenty years, and has had a successful racing career, winning State Titles in three categories.
Matt Noakes first rose to prominence in 1999, when he won the WA Junior Sedan Title at Collie. In 2012 and again in 2013, Noakes would win the WA Production Sedan Title, and he backed that up by winning one of the most exciting National Production Sedan Title finishes ever, defeating Glenn Hoskins by a car length, at Collie. Seventeen years after winning the Junior Sedan Title, he won the WA Modified Sedan Title, again at Collie in 2016.
My ambition is to win. I just want to win, said Noakes.
I have struggled this year, and have only done three shows and had a lot of issues with the handling of the car. Hopefully we are on top of it now, he adds.

Noakes believes coming from Western Australia is a disadvantage, and maybe why a West Australian is yet to win the National Title.
It is a slight disadvantage coming from Western Australia, but some of the guys over here are getting a lot quicker like Anthony King (New WA Champion) and Clint, my brother. He always goes well wherever he goes. He sets the bar over here for everyone to keep up to, Noakes said. WA guys probably struggle over there because of the limited laps we do here, and less experience on those tracks. But at the end of the day, they are all round and turn left and if we get our cars right there is no reason we can not be on the podium. A lot of luck is involved in titles, you just have got to be there at the end and anything can happen.
Thirty four year old Noakes has never raced at Horsham, and really knows nothing about the venue. I do know they race trucks there, that is pretty cool, he jokes.
Noakes will be competing in his sixth National Title, his second Modified Sedan Title.
