Current Western Australian Modified Sedan Champion Clint Noakes has continued his strong early form in 2018, by taking out round three of the 2017/2018 GWN7 WA Modified Sedan Series held at the Makit Hardware Narrogin Speedway on Saturday night.

Noakes defeated his younger brother Matt Noakes and Broomes Ray Clifton in the twenty lap main event with the meeting doubling as the annual Cranecorp Holden vs Ford Stampede.

Sixteen Modified Sedans were on hand for the event which was slated as a prelude to the upcoming Speedway Sedans WA Modified Sedan State Title to be held at the same venue in just three weeks time.
Six ten lap heat races were held across the night with local Paul Stevens winning heat six much to the delight of the home crowd.

Clint Noakes did enough in the Totally Independent Tyre Service Shootout to claim pole position for the main event with series points leader Bill Penn starting on his outside.

The opening few laps were a great spectacle with cars racing two and three wide throughout the field. On lap five Sean Theyer, Ray Clifton and Aydan Trewern would race three wide into the main straight while battling for fifth place with all three cars making contact at the same time. Theyers car would spin across the front of the field leaving Anthony King and Paul Stevens with nowhere to go.

Kings car was heavily damaged with the veteran racer experiencing some discomfort after the accident. Trewern, Theyer and King were all out of the race at this point with Paul Stevens able to restart.

Clint Noakes lead his brother Matt Noakes and Bill Penn away at the restart with Kane McDiarmid trying to find a way past Ray Clifton for fourth place. McDiarmid momentarily took fourth place away before Clifton worked his way back past the Production Sedan standout.

The Noakes brothers enjoyed a big lead as the laps wound before Bill Penn who was sitting comfortably in third place brought on the yellow lights after suffering steering damage.

Clint Noakes lead the final three laps defeating Matt Noakes and Ray Clifton. Kane McDiarmid finished a brilliant fourth place ahead of Paul Stevens.

Adam Houston came home in sixth place ahead of Mick Johnson who worked his way back to seventh after spinning early in the race. Miranda Ball, Kim Williams and Shane Dubberlin rounded out the finishers.

Attention now turns to the 2017/2018 Speedway Sedans WA Modified Sedan State Title to be held at the Makit Hardware Narrogin Speedway on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th March 2018.

The Western Australian Modified Sedan Drivers Association would like to thank Cranecorp Australia for their support of this years Holden vs Ford Stampede.
