David Nichols has gotten his season off to the perfect start by winning round two of the Tasmanian Super Sedan Series brought to you by U3 Designs at Cranes Combined Carrick Speedway.

NSW Champion Steve Latham took out a big win in the opening heat of the night. Latham would cross the line just shy of seven seconds clear of Callum Harper in second, and Nichols in third.

Nichols would greet the chequers first in heat two. Nichols would be followed home by Wayne Dillon in second, and Latham in third.

Harper dominated the field in heat three winning by just over four seconds. Nathan Howells would take the runner up spot, just clear of Dillon in third.

Harper was the top point scorer after the heat races and would start the twenty five lap A Main from pole position. Nichols would join Harper on the front row.

Harper and Nichols would head into turn one side by side. Nichols was able to power around the outside and take the lead down the back straight.

Harper was applying plenty of pressure to Nichols and had the nose up the inside when the yellows were out for the first time at the end of lap two. Harper unfortunately at the same time went up in smoke and would exit the race.

Nichols would lead away again at the resumption with Latham in second, and Dillon in third.

The yellow light was out again on lap five, this time for Latham who had broken an axle and would also have his race ended prematurely.

Nichols would continue to lead after the restart from Dillon and Laura Davidson.

Nichols would ultimately go on to score a big win, having played his joker card, Nichols banked double points to get a big lead in the TSSS early in the season.

Dillon and Davidson would have a great battle for the minor placings. Davidson mounted a serious challenge for second position, but Dillon was able to hold on to take second place ahead of Davidson in third.

Marcus Alexander had a great feature race to finish fourth after starting from seventh. Howells would start fifth and finish fifth to round out the top five.

Brad McMaster would mark his Super Sedan debut with a sixth placed finish, and Peter Johnston would be the only other finisher, crossing the line in seventh.
