This weekend, the SSA Modified Sedan Victorian Title will be held at Sungold Stadium in Warrnambool. This marks the second time in three years that the venue has hosted this prestigious event, reflecting its growing reputation for hosting high-quality sedan competitions and its track’s capability to deliver exciting multi-lane racing.
Additionally, Sungold Stadium will host the Hire Australia 2026 SSA National Super Sedan Title over Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Supporting races will include SSA Junior Sedans on Friday evening and the Modified Sedan Title on Saturday.
The Modified Sedan Title has drawn a strong field of 35 competitors, representing Western Australia, New South Wales, South Australia, and Queensland, all competing for the coveted championship.
Notable entrants include Allan Mortimer from Eaton, Western Australia, a dedicated competitor who travels extensive distances each year and recently competed in Kingaroy, Queensland. Also competing are Shane and Nathan Macdonald from Cranley and Goombungee, Queensland, respectively. These brothers boast numerous accomplishments but have yet to secure a Victorian Title.
Last year’s winner at Rushworth Speedway, Tristan McGraw, will not be defending his title due to extensive damage sustained at this year’s Kings Royal at Kingaroy, who along with several other competitors were caught up in a major accident.
The field also features two former Victorian Title holders—Matt Nelson and Brad Wicks—each aiming for their second victory in this event. Graham West, driving his historic Holden Torana, remains notable as the only competitor with multiple Victorian Title wins to his name.
Ballarat racer Darcy Wilson is on a hot streak coming off the back of a major victory at the Kings Royal in January and last weekends State Modified Series and would love to add a Title to his growing collection of trophies.
A late twist to the nominations is the shock withdrawal of former Victorian Champion Kye Walters who incurred a large amount of damage in a racing incident at Redline Raceway over a week ago with Walters undoubtedly marked as one of several favourites going into this event.
Spectators can expect to see a diverse array of vehicles, including Jarod Waters’ Berserk Merk from Mildura, Dylan Barrow’s Ford Mustang, John Baker Jr.’s RX Mazda, as well as a variety of Falcons and Commodores, ensuring there will be excitement for even the most discerning speedway fans.
The Title will be ran on Saturday 21st February with racing starting at 5.30 pm
