The Speedway Sedans Australia, Mental Racewear, National Street Stock Title at the Timmis Speedway, Mildura, is just twenty three days away, with nominations closing on the event just moments ago.
The final nomination figure of 134, falls agonisingly short of the all-time record for a National Speedway event by any category by just 5 entries, set also by the Street Stock category at the Redline Raceway in 2016. The final entry was receive just eleven minutes before the official close at midnight EDST.
As it is, the field assembled will be the second largest in history in any category of Australian Speedway, with eight National Champions in the field having won 16 National Titles between them, while twenty two drivers in the field have won a sum total of sixty five State Titles between them.
Current and four times National Champion Anthony Beare, will be looking to win his fifth National Title, while the current West Australian Champion, Jack Barnewall, Victorian, New South Wales and South Australian Champion, Anthony Beare, Tasmanian Champion, Nathan Russell, Queensland Champion, Robert Trapp and Northern Territory Champion, Jason Duell are all in the field, with Beare to lose his New South Wales title this Saturday night as he is not entered, meaning another driver will be added to that list.
Seventy drivers will represent the home State of Victoria, with South Australia having twenty seven entries, while Western Australia have a very healthy representation with fifteen drivers. Likewise, Tasmania have fourteen drivers represented, the largest ever competitor count for a National Title outside their own state in any category, which is a tremendous achievement. Four drivers from Queensland, two from the Northern Territory and two from New South Wales make up the 134 entries.
There will be twelve heats per round, thirty six heats on the first day and night of racing, with the final twelve heats and three finals to be held on night two.
