Tyson Moon has made it three wins from three starts by taking out a dominant victory during round three of the Victorian Super Sedan Series at Heartland Raceway Moama last night.

Hot and humid conditions greeted fourteen drivers just over the New South Wales border at the Moama venue.

Todd Atkins got straight to work in his brother Brock’s Insane Chassis, charging from the back of the pack to win the opening heat of the night. Lucas Roberts crossed the line second on his home track, ahead of Brock Atkins in third.

Moon continued his hot start to the Victorian season with a victory in heat two. Darren Giacometti was next across the line in second from Travis Ramsdale in third.

Ash Bergmeier was too good in heat three, leading from start to finish for his first heat win of the season. Lionel West continued his good form with a runner up finish, ahead of Roberts in third.

Brock Atkins took out a hard fought win in heat four. Atkins led home team mate Moon in second, with Mick Nicola Jnr rounding out the podium in third.

Moon picked up another win in the penultimate heat of the night, charging from fourth to win heat five, from Jamie Collins in second, and Brock Atkins in third.

West fought hard in the final heat of the night to take the win in heat six. Roberts was next across the line in second, ahead of Nicola Jnr in third.

It was a Moons Racing front row lock out for the twenty five lap feature event, with Moon starting from pole position and Atkins on the outside.

Moon got the best of the start to jump out to the lead with Atkins slotting in behind in second. Roberts held on to third, from West in fourth, and Bergmeier in fifth.

West got a whopping run into turn one on lap two and blasted around the outside of Roberts and Atkins in one fell swoop to take second position.

Nicola Jnr advanced to fifth position, as Moon out front began to build a handy advantage over the chasing pack.

Roberts race came to an abrupt halt on lap five, exiting the race with mechanical dramas.

Roberts demise elevated Nicola Jnr to fourth, and Collins to fifth who had fought by Bergmeier a lap prior.

The battle for second was heating up as Atkins was throwing the proverbial kitchen sink in a bid to take second from West.

West was gallant in defence as he was able to stave off the attack of Atkins.

As the battle raged on for second, out front Moon was doing his thing and had built a half straight away lead over the chasing pack.

The caution flag was out on lap ten for debris, bringing the pack back together for a restart with fifteen laps to run.

Moon led away at the resumption of the race as Atkins continued to apply the pressure to West in the battle for the runner up spot.

Moon stretched his legs after the restart and quickly put a significant gap between himself and the chasing pack.

West continued to drive gallantly in defence with Atkins, Nicola Jnr and Collins all right on his tail.

Moon put a couple of lap cars between himself and the chasing pack, with the podium battle set to go down to the wire in traffic.

West tucked up behind traffic had challengers coming from all angles. Nicola Jnr went to the top side, as Atkins drew level on the inside. Contact between West and Atkins, baulked Nicola Jnr allowing Collins to blast by all three to briefly take second.

West drove deep into turn three which saw contact with Collins, allowing West and Atkins to reclaim second and third respectively.

The squabbling between the chasing pack saw Moon greet the white flag half a lap in front, and go on to record a dominant victory in front of the Moama crowd.

West held on to score the runner up finish narrowly ahead of Atkins in third. Atkins was relegated post race by the stewards, giving Collins the final spot on the podium.

Atkins was credited with fourth position ahead of Nicola Jnr in fifth. Todd Atkins was next across the line in sixth, from Bergmeier in seventh, Ramsdale in eighth, Giacometti in ninth, and Stephen Hodder rounding out the top ten.

Our next event will be the Victorian Super Sedan Title at Western Speedway in Hamilton.
