Brett Mills has tonight surprised many punters by recording the fastest lap in official practice at the Broome Speedway for the WA Modified Sedan Title.
Mills hit the track in practice session eleven and recorded a 21.078 second lap, just eclipsing the mark set by Branden Fraser in the previous session by 0.004 seconds.
Brandens 21.082 was also good enough to be just ahead if his father Peter who recorded a 21.120 second lap, leaving the top three cars separated by 0.042 seconds.
Ten of the thirteen starters started in practice, with defending champion Anthony King suffering the worst luck, damaging his engine in the very first practice session and now leaving him fighting with his back up against the wall to go back to back.
The whole field was separated by under one and a half seconds, the top six by less than half a second.
Racing begins from 5pm tomorrow, with full results being posted on the Facebook page as it happens, with live results also available via Race Monitor.
