Official Release Sunday 1st September 2024.
Former Western Australian Production Sedan Champion Nuno Mendes has collected one of the biggest victories of his racing career by taking out the 2024 RDA Production Sedan Classic this afternoon at the Ellenbrook Speedway.
Mendes who sat inside the top three for the vast majority of thirty main event was the beneficiary of misfortune for current National Production Sedan Champion Kyle Sayer who suffered a flat trye on lap twenty five after leading from the outset.
In what was a torrid afternoon of racing from the Production Sedans, Sayer was the class of the field throughout the day and looked set to win the event for the fifth straight year.
2010 National Champion Rod Musarra and Nuno Mendes sat inside the top three before a stoppage with five laps remaining bunched the field for the race to the chequered flag.
Sayer would suffer a flat right rear tyre immediately after the restart as he limped the ODH Mechanical Holden Commodore to the infield with Musarra suffering suspension woes after battling with Mendes for the lead.
The final circulations saw Mendes control the race and take victory by over two seconds from Mitch Killeen who enjoyed a consistent afternoon with Barry Rose rallying from a disappointing run in the heat races to be officially third from Murray Iwanow and Production Sedan debutant Donny Davis.
Barry Rose’s third place cements him at the top of the point standings in the 2024 Natrad Production Sedan Series with two rounds remaining.
