Macdonald Wins Dirt Dash!

In what was a great night of racing, Nathan Macdonald continued his great run of late, claiming the $5k to win Modified Sedan Dirt Dash at the McCosker Gladstone Speedway.

Recently crowned NSW champion Macdonald would come from the second row to take the win in the thirty-lap main event, while brother Shane was able to race into second by the fall of the chequers with Chris Pagel coming home third.

Max Clarke and Aidan Raymont would lead away the field in the main event, Clarke taking the immediate lead while Raymont came under pressure from both Macdonald’s early but was able to hold strong.

Clarke built a solid lead but with seven laps began to slow with a flat left rear, eventually heading infield as the race continued on around him.

New leader Raymont was now well clear of the Macdonald brothers, while Brodie Boss retired infield with an engine detonation that resulted in a small fire. Still, the race would continue, but on lap twelve the yellows would finally come on as Wayne Gilroy lost a wheel, rode over it and collected the wall.

Raymont got away cleanly on the restart, the two Macdonald’s following closely behind, followed by Chris Pagel and Mason Cameron, this order remaining unchanged despite a number of restarts that would ensue.

Mason Cameron would use the lowline to get under both Pagel and Shane Macdonald, the battle for third, fourth and fifth going three wide on multiple occasions.

Raymont was well ahead by the halfway point, lapped traffic beginning to pay its part as the Nathan Macdonald came back to the battle for third and made it a four-car battle for second through the traffic.

With eight laps remaining Raymont suddenly slowed with a flat right rear, heading infield and handing the lead to Nathan Macdonald, who had managed to clear away from the pack led by his brother once again.

In the end, Nathan Macdonald would race away to claim the win by nearly one and a half seconds, defeating Shane Macdonald and Chris Pagel.
