A small but yet quality modified sedan field gave the modified sedan knockout a shakeup last night with Rodney Pammenter claiming a hard fought victory over Shane MacDonald.

There was drama before the green flag even dropped with an electrical fire in the Alex Sweeney transporter, the crew were very lucky they caught it quick enough before flames could take hold.

Cameron Taylor in the mighty Mazda drew first blood getting quick time with a 20.636 which saw him off the rear for heat 1.

Shane MacDonald slowed with gearbox issues which shuffled him back to last place. Rodney Pammenter took out the first heat with a 3 wide pass in turn 3 which left everybody on the edge of their seat.

Tim Weir took out the second heat with Shane MacDonalds crew doing a mad dash from the hill to deliver a new gearbox just in time for the knockout stages.

Knockout 1 saw the odds group take to the track with Tim Weir taking the win from Shane MacDonald coming from the rear in second.

Jake Hawkins was the first knockout of the night. Knockout 2 and it was Shane MacDonald taking the win from Cameron Taylor and Tim Weir being eliminated.

Knockout 3 came down to Shane MacDonald and Cameron Taylor, the winner goes into the final showdown.

Cameron Taylor gave it his all sticking the mighty mazda on the outside of Shane before eventually spinning in turn 4 and handing the victory to Shane MacDonald.

Now lets put this into perspective and a huge effort by Shane MacDonald after qualifying last before the knockout stages, he has managed to work his way up and win the odds group to advance to the final showdown.

Rodney Pammenter dominated the evens group knockout stages but Alex Sweeney gave Rodney a run

for his money in the second knockout pushing him all the way to the chequered flag.

Final Showdown time MacDonald v Pammenter best of 3 run off and it didn’t disappoint.

Shane MacDonald drew first blood with a win off of the outside. It seemed as though the outside starting position was the place to be with Rodney getting the jump and leading race 2.

Coming into the final turn MacDonald went for it and a great bump and run was done which pushed Rodney high and Shane just getting him on the line.

We all thought the showdown was over but the chief steward called it an illegal pass and put Shane behind Rodney to square it up at 1 all.

This is what we all came to see one win each and we head into the final showdown. Rodney off of Pole MacDonald on the outside and with previous results the outside was the place to be.

The green flag dropped and it was a drag race down the straight with both drivers not giving an inch, rubbing panels to eventually Rodney getting the upper hand and drove off to victory claiming the winners belt.

The Modified Sedan Drivers were great and put on one heck of a performance.
