Press Release by Speedway Sedans Western Australia
He finished second in all his heat races over the weekend, but Carnarvon’s Damon Lyall hit gold when it mattered most winning the Bridgestone SSA Street Stock State Title presented by Goldfields Pest Control and KCLD Cleaning in amazing fashion over Jamie Oldfield and Hayden Norman.
Lyall also double his victories with the win, coming home with the overall championship in the Novus Glass Street Stock Month of Madness.
Hayden Norman led the field to green for the Main Event but was swamped quickly by Barnewall, Oldfield and Lyall as the top four drivers drove away from the chasing pack.
The action lasted only one lap as the first yellow come out when Kevin Wyatt spun on the back straight.
Barnewall laid the attack onto Norman but both drivers had company as Oldfield tried to push Barnewall past Norman with Lyall doing the same to Norman.
The mid field battles where on with a five way tassel for seventh was on between Paul Briggs, Ethan Genev, David Fall, Brinley McGaffin and Lenny Bates, who come through the B-Main.
Lyall was able to push Norman to the lead and with that, set his sights to the outside of Norman to hit the front with an exciting outside move to get to the front.
Once Lyall was passed. Norman opened up the flood gates as both Barnewall and Oldfield got past, with Jake Hoath having an exciting run in fifth trying to get by Norman.
As the race grew longer, Lyall continued to extend his lead with no driver being able to match the Carnarvon product.
As he stormed home to an exciting victory.
Barnewall and company tried their best to match Lyall, but there was no catching him as Lyall went to write his wrongs from last year where he spun while leading the A-Main at Albany’s Attwell Park Speedway just to come home again in second.
During post-event checks, it was deemed that Jack Barnewall’s car did not comply to the rule book regulations and he was removed from the results.
