Luke Fraser has tonight claimed Round 3 of the 2021/2022 KCM Transport WA Modified Sedan Series at Geraldton City Speedway, the venue where he claimed his first ever Modified Sedan feature race.

The opening heat of the night saw Lee Watt take the opening win of the night, as he made the most of the lower line to pass Jayke Malcolm, who was soon sieged upon by Sam McAuley and Luke Fraser. McAuley would end the race in second, ahead of Luke Fraser, Jayke Malcolm and Allan Mortimer who rounded out the top five as he fought through the field.

Heat two would see a fierce battle to the first turn, with Anthony King and Lee Watt door to door as they approached the turn. King would take the lead, as Lee Watt and Allan Mortimer rounded out the top three. Branden Fraser would soon bring on yellows, as Anthony King was relegated two positions for contact. From this point, Lee Watt would not be headed as he took out his second heat of the night, ahead of Allan Mortimer and Sam McAuley.

The third heat would prove to be an absolute thrilling with Kathryn Harper leading the opening few laps, as Anthony King tried everything to get past. King soon took the lead, as Allan Mortimer started to pressure Harper for second, as the yellow lights would come on with contact between Tom O’Driscoll and Merv Penn. From this point Anthony King wouldn’t be headed, as Luke Fraser and Allan Mortimer started to gang up on Kathryn Harper with the three of them coming to the chequered flag three abreast, with Mortimer narrowly taking second ahead of Luke Fraser and Kathryn Harper.

The final qualifying heat would see Luke Fraser quickly charge to the lead, a place that he would hold for the duration of the race, while Anthony King, Jayke Malcolm and Lee Watt battled out further back. Jayke Malcolm would receive a tap from Lee Watt, causing a stoppage, which meant that Watt would need to charge from the back of the restart. Luke Fraser would record the heat race win, ahead of a fast finishing Anthony King, Jayke Malcolm, Sam McAuley and Lee Watt.

In the Southern Stump and Mulching Services Shootout, Jayke Malcolm was one of the standouts, progressing two positions to qualify fourth for the feature race, though it was Lee Watt who defeated Anthony King to claim pole position for the twenty lap feature race to round out the night.

As the flag dropped for the twenty lap final, Anthony King would make the best of the jump, leading Lee Watt into the first turn. Lee Watt would soon feel the pressure from Luke Fraser, who tried everything to get past until he ultimately spun, bringing on the first yellow of the event.

With Luke Fraser at the rear, the race got back underway, as Jayke Malcolm began his charge towards the front after passing Allan Mortimer. Despite a number of stoppages in the middle portion of the race, it was still Anthony King who would lead Lee Watt.

With six laps to go, Luke Fraser had made his way from the rear and started to challenge for the minor places. He wasn’t done with there and soon made a pass on Jayke Malcolm and set his sights on Anthony King, who he soon past for the lead.

Luke Fraser would record his second round win of the season, defeating Anthony King and Jayke Malcolm. Allan Mortimer would finish a gallant fourth ahead of Lee Watt and Sam McAuley, who had a fire under his car after contact earlier in the race.

The West Australian Modified Drivers Association would like to thank the Geraldton City Speedway for hosting Round 3 of the 2021/2022 KCM Transport WA Modified Sedan Series and would like to thank Rick, Sara and their team at RPM Race Products for their ongoing support of Modified Sedan racing in Western Australia.
