It was a night for the locals during the opening night of the Hillview Speedway Memorial Weekend, with Street Stock driver Craig Clayton and Junior Sedan pilot Donny Davis tied on points for the Neville Hampton Memorial in Newman.
Davis went through all his Top Star Junior Sedan Heat races unbeaten, showing up the talented field of Junior Sedans who made their way to the East Pilbara for the opening round of the Go-Gear JSRA Series.
Clayton has shown pace over the last few weekends down south and brought his talent home to win all three heat races tonight.
Meanwhile, in the Production Sedans the wins have been shared around.
Peter Katona took a commanding victory in heat one, Josh Fraser dominated heat two while in the wet conditions in heat three, Jack McAuley was able to break away from the bad luck that plagued him in his two opening heat races.
The night wasn’t without accidents, with major rollovers for Jett Downs, Archie Root, Logam Dean and Lenny Bates. All four able to walk away from the scenes unhurt.
Racing is scheduled to resume at 6pm tomorrow with one round of heats before finals and the East Pilbara Tyre Services Ash Page Memorial.
