The Speedway Sedans Australia, JAC Civil, National Production Sedan Title is just three days away, to be held at the Maryborough Speedway, this Saturday and Sunday nights, with Gemma Laidlaw set to compete in her second Production Sedan National Title.
The nineteen year old from Churchill in Victoria is one of the youngest drivers in the field, with Laidlaw in her fourth season of racing.
Laidlaw has never raced at Maryborough, but is looking forward to the experience. I have not raced there yet, since the resurface apparently they have made the lap record .6 seconds faster, Laidlaw said.
Driving a VY commodore Laidlaw has had some good results and not so good results leading up to the title. It has been good and bad, I had some wins in the ladies class I race in locally and had a good result in another state based class where I started out of the top ten, and was on top of fifth on the last lap and, then with the Productions, I had a second place at Hamilton as well as a couple of top five finishes and some DNFs, but that is Speedway and it is all about the title now and getting through a couple of big weekends ahead, Laidlaw added.
Laidlaw is looking forward to racing on a different track, as well as looking forward to catching up with friends from Queensland and making new ones. My ambitions for the title are to try and make the C Main and to try and stay in the top eight each heat, Laidlaw speculated.
Trevor Mills, Stephen Laidlaw and Brody Fraser, are the three drivers, Laidlaw believes will be most prominent but adds it is anyones game and it all just comes down to luck.
