Kalgoorlie’s Kayne Dellar has driven an outstanding race to claim victory in the 2021 Cranecorp Australia Tom Green Memorial Gold Cup for SSA Top Star Junior Sedans today at the Allwest Plant Hire Ellenbrook Speedway.

Twenty Two SSA Top Star Junior Sedans battled it over the course of the day, with drivers travelling from around Western Australia for one of the major blue ribbon events for the class in the West..

A picture perfect late winter day greeted competitors & spectators alike with Bunbury’s Matthew Thomson qualifying on pole position in his Ivix Industries Hyundai Excel for the twenty lap decider.

Brandon Buszan shared the front row with Thomson as Kayne Dellar would soon the hit the lead in the opening laps after making a great start from the outside of the second row.

Oldfield & Thomson

After enduring a trouble start to the day Beau Oldfield aboard his brand new Redline Rollcages Mitsubishi Mirage worked his way from the fifth row to be challenging the leaders in the early laps.

Albany’s Hope Batchelor unfortunately rolled her AVEG Mitsubishi Lancer heavily in turn one on lap five bringing the red lights on.

Batchelor was unharmed in the major incident as Thomson took his car to the infield when the race resumed with mechanical woes.

As Oldfield challenged both Buszan and Dellar for the lead his car began to show signs of distress and started his fall through the field.

Dellar and Buszan put a significant distance between themselves and Moora’s Taj Vanzetti who was holding off Blake Palmer & Brody Day.

Olivia Earle would bring the yellow lights on lap sixteen after spinning in turn three leading to an exciting climax to an already pulsating battle for the lead.

Buszan threw everything at Dellar in final circulations with the KCLD Cleaning Hyundai Excel equal to the challenge.

Dellar would win by less than a second in what is the biggest win of his SSA Junior Sedan career from Buszan, Vanzetti, Palmer & Brody Day.

Newman’s Donny Davis enjoyed a consistent day to finish in sixth place ahead of third generation driver Harrison Beres, Deegan McNally, Port Hedland’s Hunter Downs and Kiastyn Oldfield who rounded out the top ten.

All SSA Junior Sedan drivers who raced on the day received prizes donated kindly by the many sponsors involved with the very successful event.
