JUNIOR WA TITLE BEGINS TOMORROW

by | Jan 14, 2026 | SSA Junior Sedans, WA

The spotlight will swing straight from the coast to the forests of the South-West as the WA Chip 2026 SSA Junior Sedan WA Title roars into life at Tyrepower Manjimup Speedway, beginning this Thursday.

An outstanding 85 nominations have been received for the Junior Title, which is the largest WA Title ever held, demonstrating the strength and depth of Junior Sedans across Western Australia and beyond.

While thirteen competitors from the National Title will not back it up for the State Championship, their absence is more than offset by fourteen additional drivers making the trip to Manjimup specifically to chase WA glory. The result is a stacked field that promises fierce competition and plenty of action across the whole weekend.

After an amazing SSA Junior Sedan National Title at Esperance that did see some scary crashes over the weekend, Queenslander Tyler Beer and Esperance’s Pippa Schultz have withdrawn, but their scratching have been offset by two late additions as Derby’s Brinley McGaffin Junior and Kalgoorlie’s Mason Whitehead entering.

Leading the charge will be the WA1 of Oscar Amato, who returns to defend the WA Title he claimed at Collie last season. Amato won’t have it easy, however, with the podium from 2025 reforming behind him. Jake Leaman, second last year and a two-time champion in his own right arrives with one goal in mind, while Harrison Beres, third at Collie, will be determined to step up another rung, or two, on the podium and claim one of the few blue-ribbon events in Western Australia that he does not yet have to his name.

Adding further intensity to the event is the presence of seventeen interstate competitors, representing the Northern Territory, New South Wales, Queensland, and Victoria. Drivers such as Benji Gordon (the New South Wales based driver who is also the Northern Territorian Champion) and Queenslanders Lachie Burke and Bailey Chandler, who iare definitely clocking up the kilometres, will ensure the WA contenders will be under constant pressure from some of the best young talent in the country.

The field itself reads like a who’s who of emerging Junior Sedan stars, with proven front-runners such as last season’s pole position starter Mackenzie Silver, and 2025/26 feature winners including Joel Bowman, Jesse Hamon, Kaden Harrison and Jake Johnson, amongst many other high-profile competitors.

With such a tough field of drivers looking to make their breakthrough on the state stage, every heat race will matter in what is shaping up as one of the deepest WA Title fields in recent memory.

Action kicks off tomorrow afternoon with Official Practice and the Welcome Function, while Friday night will see three rounds of heat action with it all coming to a close with one round of heat races and finals on Saturday.

If you can’t make it, you can catch all the action on Clay-Per-View.
