The closest finish of the season anywhere in Australia occurred on Saturday night in the Junior Sedan A Main at the Perth Motorplex, with the winning margin, a mere 0.009.
It was not only a thrilling finish, it was also an action packed event which saw Ethan Cooper spin in turn two on the opening lap. Many cars missed the stranded Cooper, but Joaquin Wishart slammed into the side of Coopers Hyundai Excel, with Wisharts Charade bursting into flames.
Three laps later an almost identical incident in turn four, would eliminate Rory Elsum Beaumont and Bryden Southwell.
Blake Iwanow opened a handy lead on the opposition, headed by Blake Webb, Lachlan Dellar, Jackson Derrick and Kayne Dellar, who started well down the field and moved quickly to fifth.
Lachlan Dellar passed Webb after six laps, and set out after Iwanow, slowly but surely closing the gap on Iwanow, who earlier in the night won two heat races. Dellar levelled up with Iwanow on the last lap with the duo hitting the line together, with Dellar winning by 0.009.
Jackson Derrick would finish third, just ahead of Blake Webb, Kayne Dellar and Beau Doyle
